If I do not answer my phone, please leave me a confidential voice mail message. I do my best to return calls quickly, usually by the close of business weekdays or Monday morning after the weekend. If you e-mail me, I will still contact you via phone. Please be aware of the limits to confidentiality of the Internet if you decide to e-mail me; please do not e-mail information that you intend to be confidential.

In Case of Emergency:

You may telephone me between appointments as needed if you feel it is urgent to speak before the next appointment. I do not charge for short telephone calls up to 10 minutes.  Longer calls are billed at the prorated amount of your psychotherapy fee. 

Examples of psychological emergencies are: Having suicidal or homicidal thoughts or impulses. If you are having a psychological or medical emergency, please do not call the office. Proceed immediately to the nearest emergency room, or if you cannot transport yourself, contact emergency personnel by dialing 911 and tell them that you have an emergency.

If you are unsure if you need emergency intervention, call your nearest hospital emergency room and ask for the psychiatrist on call.

After you have received appropriate help, please leave me a message so we can discuss what happened during your next session. If you anticipate needing frequent crisis intervention, we can discuss this and come up with an ongoing crisis plan.
